from the gilroy garlic festival
my friends, i want to reach out to you, after so many of you have reached out to me, after the horrible mass shooting event that occurred at the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Sunday.
i want to assure you that i am ok. i performed earlier in the festival and was not there when the shooting happened. thank you all for your messages, for your posts, and for your concern. while i am ok, many are not. i am sad, horrified and angry as more news comes in about what happened. i have played this garlic festival for 7 years. i know it is a source of pride for the community, a tourist destination for people around the world, and just a gigantic fun and happy event. i hate that this happened. another mass shooting. we should not have to live in fear of going to a food festival, a concert, a movie. we don’t have to live like this. we really don’t.
if you would like to help those in the community, you can donate to the Gilroy Garlic Festival Victims Relief Fund, organized by the Gilroy Foundation.
